2014 Michael Hall Barossa Valley Shiraz, Stone Well
The Triangle Block displays the terracotta-red, iron-rich soils found in parts of the north and west Barossa and is managed under bio-dynamic principles.
Fair winter rains and a warm first week of September promoted early budburst. A hot summer was broken by rain mid-February and cool temperatures thereafter. Picked on 4th March, all destemmed, fermented in closed puncheon and open fermenter. Matured for 21 months in French oak (22% new), unfiltered. Fresh plum, black cherry and blackberry, leather and cedar, talcy tannins.
50 magnums produced.
