2017 Michael Hall Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills

2017 Michael Hall Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills Image

Grown at the Mawson Road Vineyard in Lenswood at 560m elevation on a steep south-facing aspect. Planted to the 777, 114 and 115 clones on sandy loam over clay. Abundant winter rain followed by a cool spring and summer heralded a late vintage. Hand-picked on 7 April, wild yeast fermented, 50% whole bunch with long maceration (41 days), pressed to barrel, 10 months in French oak (30% new, Francois Freres), unfined.

Sandalwood, cherry, cocoa, lilacs, blood orange, powdery dry finish.

1330 bottles produced.
