2019 Michael Hall Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, Lenswood & Piccadilly
Ben’s Block in Lenswood and the Garden Block of Bernie and Sandy Swaby sit high in the Adelaide Hills at just over 500m elevation. Their soils are humus and sandy loam over clay and their distinctive conditions provide late ripening through cool summer nights and chilly autumns.
Low winter rainfall and blustery weather during flowering resulted in a small crop. Hand-picked on the 10th and 21st of March, destemmed and pressed, wild yeast barrel-fermented, 45% malolactic fermentation, matured for 11 months on yeast lees in French oak (25% new), filtered and bottled.
1180 bottles produced.
