2019 Michael Hall Barossa Valley Roussanne, Greenock
The Roussanne grape owes its name to the reddish or russet bloom it develops on its skin as it reaches full maturity. This grape is late ripening and ideally suited to the Barossa climate vintage.
Poor winter rains and windy weather during flowering resulted in a minute crop. Hand-picked on 28 February, destemmed and pressed, wild yeast barrel fermented in French oak barriques, eight months on lees, fined, filtered and bottled. 600 bottles produced!
